Delegates for this Advanced Proficiency Module must already hold either the P405 Proficiency Certificate in Management of Asbestos in Buildings or the Certificate of Competence - Asbestos.
The delegate must have a good understanding of spoken and written English. Any problems with literacy or language comprehension should be declared at least 24 hours prior to the course. This need not preclude attendance to the course, provisions can be arranged provided we can assess the delegates' needs. These will need to be authorised prior to the course by the accreditation.
Prior to the commencement of the course please also identify any special requirements delegates may have, such as learning difficulties, so that trainer support can be given during the course.

Delegates are required to pass both of the following parts (A and B below) to be awarded the module.
A: Written Theory Examination
This is a closed-book examination of 40 short-answer questions to be completed in two hours.
B: Submission of Report
Delegates are required to demonstrate that they have sufficient knowledge with respect to the duty holder’s requirements and either produce an asbestos management plan or a report compiled from a critical review of an asbestos management plan. A copy of the report must be submitted to BOHS within twelve months. Full details of the report requirements will be provided.
Certification
Delegates who pass both examinations within 12 months will be awarded an Advanced Proficiency Certificate in Management of Asbestos in Premises, the Duty Holder Requirements.
Certificates are issued approximately 4-6 weeks after the course.
Who qualifies for a Grant?
Employers may be able to claim CITB-ConstructionSkills Grant to offset the cost of employees attending eligible training courses and achieving recognised qualifications. Employers must be in-scope and registered with CITB-ConstructionSkills at the time of training. Full details about Grants can be found on www.cskills.org/levy-grant or from the local ConstructionSkills office. If you are eligible to receive a Grant and provide the seven-digit CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy Grant registration number on the course assessment form, CITB will send a claim form to the employer to claim a Grant where applicable. If the registration number is not supplied the Grant will not be paid. Courses may be audited for grant verification purposes.

Please arrive at the venue at 08:45 for a 09:00 start. Delegates are to report to the reception area and advise they are attending a Santia Asbestos P407 course.
Duration
Minimum contact time: 15 hrs with tutor, plus 4 hrs study time
Each training day concludes at approximately 17:00 but may run later than this, please also be aware that you will need to spend time in the evenings working on questions and revising.
After the first day, the start time may change to 08:00, if this is the case this will be discussed on the first day of the course.
On the final day of the course, the exam should conclude before 16:00.
Aim
To provide practical skills required to manage asbestos in buildings and a basic knowledge of asbestos management plans, policies and procedures, their implementation and checks on effectiveness.

- Use of asbestos, types and characteristics
- Management of asbestos in premises
- Controlling work on the fabric of the building or services
- Management and organisation of work activities within an asbestos containing premises
- The asbestos management plan
Theory and Practical Test
Iindividual written examinations and submission of an acceptable report, with explanation of pass requirements.
